Top 10 Best Seed Companies in Mid Devon

Seed is where every harvest begins. In Mid Devon, grassland is the foundation of dairy and livestock farming, making grass and forage seed choices especially important. Meanwhile, allotment holders, market gardeners and home growers across Tiverton, Crediton and Cullompton seek quality vegetable and flower seeds.

This guide profiles ten of the best seed companies and merchants serving the district, covering agricultural specialists, regional merchants and trusted garden seed brands.

Choosing the Right Seed

For farmers, seed selection affects yield, forage quality and resilience. Modern grass mixtures combine ryegrasses, clovers and herbs to improve productivity, drought tolerance and soil health. Recommended List varieties provide independent assurance of performance.

For gardeners, germination rates, variety suitability and disease resistance are key. Devon's mild, damp climate favours some crops while challenging others, so local advice can be invaluable.
