How to Choose an Interior Designer

Look at portfolios to see whether a designer's style aligns with your vision. Ask about their process, including initial consultations, concept boards, budgets and project management. Clarify how fees are structured, whether as a fixed fee, hourly rate or percentage of project cost. For larger renovations, check whether the designer works with trusted builders, joiners and electricians. Good communication is essential, so choose someone who listens and explains their ideas clearly.

Design Considerations for Moray Homes

The northern climate means warmth and light are priorities. Layered lighting, insulated window treatments and wood-burning stoves are popular features. Natural materials such as wool, oak, stone and slate reflect the local landscape. Home offices and flexible living spaces remain in demand. There is also increasing interest in biophilic design, bringing plants and natural elements indoors to improve wellbeing.
