Event Industry Trends in North Devon

Outdoor and experiential events are booming. Couples are choosing beach weddings, woodland ceremonies and festival-style celebrations, while businesses opt for team-building activities such as surfing lessons, coasteering and coastal walks. North Devon's natural assets make it ideal for these experiences.

Sustainability is increasingly central to event planning. Organisers are reducing single-use plastics, sourcing local food and drink, and encouraging public transport or shared travel. Events in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve are especially mindful of environmental impact.

Hybrid and smaller-scale events have also grown. Corporate clients are booking intimate retreats and leadership away days in country hotels, while digital streaming allows wider audiences to join conferences and performances remotely.

How to Choose an Event Partner

Define your event goals, audience and budget before approaching organisers or venues. Visit venues in person where possible, considering capacity, accessibility, parking and wet-weather options. Ask about supplier recommendations, including caterers, florists, photographers and entertainment. Check reviews and testimonials, and ensure contracts clearly outline responsibilities, timelines and cancellation policies.

Planning Around the North Devon Seasons

Timing is everything when organising events in North Devon. Summer brings long evenings and busy beaches but also peak accommodation prices and heavy traffic on routes into Croyde, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. Spring and early autumn often provide pleasant weather, quieter roads and better venue availability, making them excellent choices for weddings and corporate retreats. Winter events can take advantage of cosy country house settings and festive celebrations. Whatever the season, experienced organisers always prepare a wet-weather plan, as Atlantic weather can change quickly along the coast.

Conclusion

North Devon offers an extraordinary backdrop for events, and its organisers and venues bring professionalism and local knowledge to every occasion. From Goldcoast Oceanfest and the North Devon Show to elegant venues like Saunton Sands, Hartland Abbey and Tapeley Park, these ten event specialists help create memorable experiences that showcase the very best of the region.
