Pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments have also grown, requiring specialist temperature-controlled handling and strict compliance.

Sustainability is an emerging focus. Airlines and integrators are investing in more fuel-efficient aircraft and exploring sustainable aviation fuel. Some forwarders now offer carbon reporting and offsetting options to help customers manage their environmental impact.

Technology continues to improve visibility and efficiency, with digital booking platforms, electronic air waybills and advanced security screening streamlining the flow of goods through airports.

How to Choose an Air Cargo Partner

For small, urgent parcels, express integrators offer the simplest solution with door-to-door service. For larger or heavier consignments, freight forwarders can provide better value by consolidating shipments. Consider transit times, customs support, special handling requirements and the level of tracking provided.

Businesses shipping regularly should negotiate account rates and explore integrated solutions combining air freight with warehousing and last-mile delivery. Ensuring accurate documentation will help avoid customs delays.
